Volunteer Positions

Home Construction, Renovation or Repair

Habitat for Humanity is best known for its homeownership program building alongside families in need. Homes are sold to the qualified homebuyers with an affordable zero percent mortgage. Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona also renovates homes and repairs owner occupied homes to qualifying residents. No previous construction experience is required!

Habitat construction sites are typically open on Tuesday through Saturday. Most volunteer opportunities are on Saturdays. The activities of the day can vary and may include painting, drywall, framing, carpentry, roofing, site clean-up, and landscaping. Instruction and tools are provided on site, no experience is necessary.

Time Commitment:  Shifts are typically six hours. 6:30 am start time — First weekend after April 15 until October 31; 7:30 am start time — First weekend after October 31 until April 15.  Other single day opportunities or multiple opportunities throughout the year

Age Requirement: Minimum Age is 18.

Site Host

The Site Host is an extremely important position on our build sites. You would greet and sign in all the volunteers participating in the build that day, collect waivers, issue name tags and answer questions about Habitat.

Time Commitment: Up to 15 Saturdays in a row working on a single house, or could be split up between two or more Site Hosts. Other one time opportunities are available for home repair projects. The Site Host can choose to stay on the site during the entire build day, or leave once all volunteers are successfully signed in.

Age Requirement: Minimum Age is 18 years old.


The ReStore is a retail outlet where quality used building materials, furniture and appliances are sold to the public at discounted prices. We are always looking for more volunteers to keep the ReStores running smoothly! ReStore volunteers greet customers, clean and test products, organize and load/unload donations.

Time Commitment: Flexible three hour shifts are available. One time opportunities and longer term commitments are available. The ReStores are open Monday through Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Age Requirement: Minimum age is 15.

Team Leader

Are you interested in becoming a leader with Habitat? The Team Leaders are essential to our home building, renovating and repair programs. You would work closely with the House Leader to teach/guide small groups of volunteers on the construction site. Additionally, you would assist the House Leader with the overall safety and productivity of volunteers. Training classes are offered throughout the year with topics covering all aspects of homebuilding and renovation

Time Commitment: Up to 15 Saturdays in a row building on a single house.

Age Requirement: Minimum Age is 18.

Office Angel

Office Angels are essential to our office operations. If being out on a construction site doesn’t appeal to you this may be a perfect opportunity for you to consider. This position includes data entry, answering phones, filing and scanning. There are opportunities in our Phoenix and Peoria Office locations.

Time Commitment: Four hour shifts are available morning and afternoon Monday through Friday for Peoria Receptionist. Flexible scheduling available during the work week for the Phoenix Office location.

Age Requirement: Minimum age is 18.


Hospitality is a great way for youth groups to help Habitat by providing breakfast or lunch to the volunteers on site. There are usually about 35 people on site to feed.

Age Requirement: None.

Ambassadors & Community Events Volunteers

If you enjoy teaching small groups and empowering others, this is an ideal opportunity! Ambassadors run New Volunteer Orientations and occasionally serve as table-side volunteers at events across the Valley.

Habitat is often invited to participate in volunteer fairs and community events. We need friendly folks who might be available to attend these events, speak about Habitat, and generally promote the message and mission of Habitat for Humanity.

Time Commitment: Orientations are approximately a total of two hours once to twice a month. Volunteer fairs and community events vary during the year.

Age Requirement: Minimum age is 18.


Family Selection Committee

The Family Selection Committee plays an essential role in the application process. You would review prospective applications and conduct interviews for potential Habitat Homeowners.

Time Commitment: Flexible night and weekend availability a few times per month. Committee meeting once a month.

Age Requirement: Minimum Age is 18.

Family Partner Committee

If you would like to work directly with Habitat family as they go through the homebuilding or renovation process this is the committee for you! You will assist staff members with orientating new homeowners and mentoring families during the construction process of their homes.

Time Commitment: Committee meets once a month, check in with the families are done throughout the month.

Age Requirement: Minimum Age is 18.

Faith Relations Committee

Faith Relations Committee members work with faith communities around the Valley to introduce them to Habitat for Humanity and/or strengthen their involvement with our affiliate.
