Dear Habitat Friends and Supporters,
Your local Habitat for Humanity affiliate has served residents here in the Valley for nearly thirty-five years. Be it building homes, revitalizing neighborhoods, conducting emergency home repairs, or offering retail values through our Habitat ReStores, we have served through many challenging times. During this time of social distancing, Habitat remains mission-minded, and ever-focused on our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Rest assured, while a pause in some activities may be necessary, we will get through this together and be back in our community stronger than ever before.
Our Board of Directors and staff want you to know that our current number one priority is the health and safety of our employees, the families we serve, our sponsors, volunteers, retail customers and the public at large. For that reason, we are committed to following the guidance of public health officials, to “flatten the curve” and Habitat applauds the heroic efforts of the front-line care givers to whom we are deeply indebted.
Some initial steps we have taken are:
- the temporary closure of our five Habitat ReStore locations
- the suspension of sponsor and volunteer participation in building and repairs
- the temporary closing of our administrative offices to the public
- having most of our employees work from home for the time being
In addition, we have postponed our annual Blueprints and Blue Jeans fundraising event. While these measures are inflicting financial duress on our organization, they are necessary and consistent with what the healthcare experts are asking from us in terms of slowing the spread of the virus. We are here to support our families. If you are experiencing a financial hardship, please contact our Family Services Department at 602-268-9022 and we will work with you to create a solution tailored to your situation.
If you are able to make a charitable gift to Habitat at this time, we’re asking you to act now to make sure that we are ready to help our community build back from this pandemic. Gratefully,
Jason Barlow, President & CEO
