On a perfectly crisp and sunny Saturday morning in Phoenix, about 300 students and faculty from Grand Canyon University (GCU) teamed up with another 50 volunteer leaders and Habitat for Humanity to help improve another 15 homes in the area.

This is the 14th time in the 7-year partnership between GCU and Habitat this has happened. GCU staff has now contributed more than $5M and 30,000 volunteer hours to serve 436 families in their neighborhood! More than 1,100 home repair projects have been completed, including 88 new roofs, 247 paint jobs, 188 windows and 167 landscaping projects.  Catch the recap video below!

Habitat President & CEO, Jason Barlow said, “Thanks to the amazing generosity of GCU’s faculty and staff, we believe we’ve been able to positively impact about 30% of the entire number of families that live near their Phoenix campus.”

Through this unique partnership we recently served Bonnie and her husband, who moved into their home 60 years ago when there was still a sheep pasture across the road. GCU staff gave her forever home a nice coat of paint, and now she is set to have her windows replaced. This is the largest and most successful partnership between a university and a Habitat Affiliate anywhere in the country.
