At the heart of our mission is the belief that everyone deserves a safe and decent place to call home. Through the
years with the dedication of our volunteers, and the generosity of our donors we have built more than 1,220 new
homes that serve as pillars of hope for individuals and families in need of affordable housing. We like to say that every
Habitat home is a miracle because it truly signifies an opportunity for a family to achieve stability and break the
cycle of poverty. Similar to Jolene, a single mother raising three children, she never believed owning her own home was
attainable. Today, she proudly owns her property and eagerly anticipates hosting birthday parties for her granddaughter.
We also recognize that affordable housing extends beyond new construction and includes the preservation and
improvement of existing housing stock. Our growing repair program focuses on critical repairs and accessibility
modifications. Through this program, we address critical needs such as leaky roofs, faulty plumbing, and electrical
issues. These repairs not only enhance the quality of life for homeowners but also contribute to the overall vitality and
stability of the neighborhoods we serve. By revitalizing neighborhoods we can help families like Narlie’s. Narlie and her
family live in Sunnyslope and endured record heat for two weeks in July 2023 when their air conditioner failed. With limited
income and limited options, Narlie contacted Habitat and was able to afford a new HVAC. She is grateful for this blessing
and the donors who made it possible, saying it came at the right time to help her family. Click the images below to read the full issue!
At Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona, we also hold our veterans in the highest regard for their selfless service to
our nation. Through specialized programs, we make it part of our mission to address the unique housing needs of
veterans and their families. Whether it’s adapting homes for accessibility or constructing purpose-built housing, we
strive to provide a place where veterans can thrive and find solace. These efforts reinforce our commitment to ensuring
that no veteran is left without a safe and stable place to call home.
Helping older adults maintain independence and remain within their communities is an integral part of our organization’s
vision. Our innovative Aging-in-Place program offers solutions and resources that enable seniors to stay in their
homes comfortably and safely. From the installation of grab bars and wheelchair ramps to bathroom modifications, we
support our aging neighbors in maintaining their dignity while living in surroundings they cherish.
Habitat remains dedicated to serving our community through the principles of compassion, collaboration, and respect. We
believe that by building new homes, repairing existing ones, looking after our veterans, offering aging-in-place solutions,
fostering community and corporate partnerships, and engaging volunteers, we can transform lives and make Arizona a
better place for all. We can do this – Let’s give Arizona a hand up! By giving a “hand up” instead of a handout, we can
break the cycle of poverty, build self-sufficiency and enhance the overall quality of life in Arizona.
