Mario and his wife, Killi, were born and raised in Eritrea, Africa. Living in Eritrea was a dark time for them as they had no opportunities for an education. It was less than ten years ago that they picked up their things and decided to move to the United States and start a new life.

Upon becoming U.S. citizens, Mario, Killi and their two children were living in a two-bedroom apartment that was simply too small for the family of four. Their apartment had no playground available and exceeded their budget. This family needed a larger, affordable home that accommodated their needs.

Together they have two beautiful girls, a six-year-old and nine-year-old. Both girls who have big dreams for the future. The youngest currently wants to become a school bus driver and the other a journalist. The family enjoys shopping, watching movies, reading the bible and going to church. Both parents work hard to provide a good life for their family. Mario works full-time at a sportswear and apparel shop in Peoria and Killi, works part-time at a resort and spa in Phoenix.

After learning about Habitat for Humanity through friends, they decided to apply for the program. They believe this home will better their future and empower them to even greater things. We celebrated their new home in a dedication ceremony on Friday, October 7th.
