LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) for Homes

Fall 2008, HFHCAZ was the first Habitat affiliate to build a LEED Platinum Certified home. The practice of building sustainable homes goes hand-in-hand in affordable housing as increased efficiency of the home reduces costs to the homeowner throughout the life of the home. With that in mind, HFHCAZ has continued to build 97 LEED Certified Homes and 69 LEED Certification-Seeking Homes.

Features of a LEED certified home include:

  • Improved Indoor Air Quality
  • Durability of Construction
  • Minimized Environmental Footprint
  • Increased Water Efficiency
  • Improved Energy Efficiency

HFHCAZ is also a proud member of the United States Green Building Council.
